Ensure every resident of Hopkins feels safe, respected, and protected by fostering trust between the community and law enforcement, and by investing in prevention programs that reduce crime before it happens.

- Expand community policing programs so officers are visible and engaged in neighborhoods.
- Host regular “Coffee with a Cop” and community safety forums for open dialogue.
- Increase cultural competency and de-escalation training for all officers.
- Invest in Prevention & Youth Programs
- Partner with schools, nonprofits, and local organizations to provide after-school activities, mentorship, and job training for youth.
- Expand mental health resources and intervention programs to prevent crises.
- Support initiatives that address root causes of crime, such as poverty, addiction, and lack of opportunity.
- Transparent & Accountable Policing
- Implement clear systems for public feedback and complaint resolution.
- Increase public reporting on police activities and community outcomes.
- Use body-worn camera footage for transparency and trust-building.
Execution Plan:
- Year 1: Launch new community engagement programs, expand officer training, and create a public safety advisory board made up of residents.
- Year 2–3: Increase funding for youth and prevention programs; strengthen partnerships with schools and local organizations.
- Year 4: Review safety data, measure trust levels through community surveys, and adjust strategies to improve results.
Impact:
By focusing on prevention, transparency, and genuine engagement, we will create a Hopkins where safety is shared, trust is mutual, and every resident feels like a valued partner in keeping our community strong.
